10/2/13, "This is About Shutting Down Obamacare," Erick Erickson, RedState
"Congressmen, this is about shutting down Obamacare.
Democrats keep talking about our refusal to compromise. They don’t
realize our compromise is defunding Obamacare. We actually want to
repeal it.
This is it. Our endgame is to leave the whole thing shut down until
the President defunds Obamacare. And if he does not defund Obamacare,
we leave the whole thing shut down.
After all, if the government is not spending any money, when we
collide with the debt ceiling in two weeks, we should not have to worry
since the government is spending so little money.
This shutdown is about Obamacare. Congressmen, do not take your eyes
off the ball. This is not about a grand bargain to restructure the tax
code, reform entitlements, or raise revenue.
This is about shutting down Obamacare.
On Monday, Harry Reid fretted about Republicans hurting kids with
cancer. On Tuesday, when asked why he would not then open back up the
National Institutes of Health to help kids with cancer, Reid couldn’t
think of a reason why he would do that.
The Democrats pitted themselves against World War II veterans,
spitefully shutting down a memorial otherwise open 24 hours a day.
The President on Tuesday evening practically begged the stock market to crash to scare Republicans.
The media, try as it may to ignore these stories, cannot ignore them.
Democrats are putting their feet in their mouths and swallowing.
We are learning the President has a White House staff of 90 to take
care of him and his family. Right now, only 15 people are there
helping.
We’ve learned 93% of the EPA is considered non-essential.
We’ve learned 94% of the Department of Education is considered non-essential.
We’ve learned that after three years of trying, the government still
cannot get a website going to register people for healthcare.
We have also learned there are some Republicans who are willing and ready to sell out.
Congressmen, do not underestimate our desire to toss you out of
office if you betray us. We are learning a lot more about government
and it confirms just how wasteful it is. But this is a fight about
Obamacare. Do not confuse why you are fighting.
Hold the line. Undermine Obamacare. Shut it down."
