In the Politico article in which he's quoted Lashof makes no mention of recent US CO2 emissions nor are they mentioned elsewhere in the article. Global warming is supposed to be about man caused CO2 emissions but none of the articles today (1/8/13) mentioned recent US CO2.
They couldn't, because US CO2 has plunged, has been dropping for 20 years, is headed lower, and experts predict a change in US energy policy to reflect the reduced status of CO2 danger.

NOAA personnel would lose their jobs if they put out a news story saying 48 US states had cooled. The multi-trillion dollar global CO2 terror industry would go bankrupt. But why is hot weather in the US which is only 1.5 or 2.0% of the globe as scary as a mass media blitz suggests?
The entire 'climate' industry has been built on demonizing American CO2 emissions. That's no longer possible which is why 2012 US CO2 emissions weren't mentioned in a single one of these articles on Tuesday.
The "stunning" US CO2 drop has been widely acknowledged by scientists. US CO2 drop isn't just a number, it's the death of the premise for the entire "climate industry:"
- "It is exactly America’s historical role of biggest and dirtiest that makes their sharp decline in CO2 pollution so noteworthy ."...(6/4/12)
global warming ‘action’ was institutionalized in US government in 1990 by George Bush the 1st in the “U.S. Global Change Research Act of 1990.” CO2 is mentioned near the end.
Today at least 13 federal agencies are charged with climate endeavors and spending.
Trillions have been taken from US taxpayers for climate endeavors via agency budget allocations, tax subsidies, diversion of US military to climate or green projects, countless federal regulations, vast sums shipped out in no strings foreign aid for ‘climate’ capacity building, etc.
Other countries’ CO2 hasn’t dropped despite hundreds of billions spent on cap and trade and extra taxes. The US government has become business partners with the ‘climate’ industry via confiscation of US taxpayer dollars.
Dan Lashof's problem is his job is over but he doesn't want it to be. He has brought a massive, advanced civilization, the United States to its knees. He acknowledged on 7/20/12,
"That puts the 17 percent (CO2) reduction target embraced by President Obama squarely within reach."...
Still Lashof would demand yet more government climate "action." Hundreds of millions of Americans other than Lashof have been in a terrible economic depression for many years now with no end in site. The suffering has been unspeakable. It continues to be unspeakable. Lifetimes of work and sacrifice have been lost. At the height of a depression hundreds of billions of tax dollars have been taken from taxpayers and given to green and climate causes that amounted to nothing. Even after all this, Lashof's only thought is to get into Obama's office ASAP--even though US CO2 has dropped drastically and is headed even lower.
Again, none of the articles today (1/8/13) mentioned recent US CO2 emmissions.
Tuesday's blitz of articles were much like this one in which Lashof is quoted:
1/8/13, "NOAA says 2012 was hottest ever in U.S.," Politico, E. Martinson
"NOAA scientists say more warmer-than-average years are on the horizon, and that will likely lead to more frequent extreme weather events, drought and other negative impacts....
Greens quickly seized to the data, urging federal regulatory action to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
“NOAA’s report should sound the alarm that we can’t wait another day to start fighting climate change,” said Daniel Lashof, director of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Climate and Clean Air Program.
“The good news is that the president can start right now,” Lashof said,
saying Obama should push ahead
with regulations requiring
cuts in carbon dioxide emissions
from existing power plants, using existing federal authority under
the Clean Air Act."...
