Dershowitz: Mayors who bully Chick Fil A 'show terrible intolerance.' Chick Fil A map of supporter photos

7/29/12, "Dershowitz: Anti-Chick-fil-A mayors 'showing terrible intolerance'," Deseret News

"Mayors who have told the owners of Chick-fil-A that the restaurant chain is not welcome in their cities are displaying terrible intolerance, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview.

No city is free to discriminate against a company based on the views of its owners, the renowned criminal appeals attorney said.

If you don't like their principles, go to McDonalds, said Dershowitz." via Free Republic

The BBC is blinded by its own prejudice. BBC makes the Chick Fil A Appreciation story about gays, Christianity, Republicans, and the US South instead of government bullying against views of private citizens. Too bad BBC didn't check out this map of the US of Chick Fil A Appreciation customers who sent in photos or videos on 8/1/12.

8/1/12, "Chick-fil-A wins Republican backing over gay marriage," BBC

"Chick-fil-A restaurants in cities across southern states of the US were reported to be bustling with customers who turned out in support of the chain....

"The general manager of the only Chick-fil-A outlet in New Hampshire has become a sponsor of that state's gay pride festival, due to take place in August.

In a statement, Anthony Picolia said his restaurant "has gay employees and serves gay customers with honour, dignity and respect."

---------------------------------------------

BBC's selection and placement of that quote invites readers to believe that Chick Fil A doesn't treat gays with dignity and respect, and that this is why Mayors said they couldn't have restaurants in their towns. And that this is normal and proper conduct for US Mayors and other public servants. None of which is true.

"Chick-Fil-A doesn't discriminate in hiring or serving customers." People don't go to restaurants to get married.

From Breitbart's Dana Loesch:

"This isn't about same-sex marriage; it's about the right of a private citizen to his opinion. While decrying "intolerance," the left has proven their intolerance of any opinion different from theirs; and if you're a gay conservative alarmed by the government's move to oppress free speech you're targeted with a special brand of venom.

This is what people came out in droves to support: the basic right to speech. If you disagree with Dan Cathy and personally don't want to spend your money at his restaurants, that's your right. It's not the right of government to step in and punish entrepreneurs because of their personal beliefs. That's a tenet of fascism, and those who support it have become the very thing they claim to oppose."

(Ed. note: I listen to BBC radio a fair amount and have heard lengthy documentaries and interviews on negative aspects of the US South past and present. I guess it's more fun for the BBC than examining the hell hole they, as a government owned media outlet, helped create in the UK and the rest of Europe).
