The US had reduced its dependence on Saudi oil but under Obama we've been forced into the suicidal position of relying more on Saudi oil. We get oil from several countries including Canada, but have cut back imports in recent years anyway: ""Net imports of oil are falling sharply.”" It was constantly said George Bush was acting in the Saudi's interests. No one ever says that about Obama, yet look what Obama has done stunningly in the Saudis' interests (see chart below). There was no need for this. At least it was mentioned in August in the NY Times:

Gas price was $1.79 when Obama was inaugurated, January 20, 2009. (Rated true by Politifact.) It's $3.80 on 9/27/12.
The average price for a gallon of gas in 2005 was $2.30 and Bush was blamed. Why isn't Obama?:
