"Watts has been assisting prominent Warmists to avoid any further releases of their emails. He is trying to disable any Climategate III.
Why on earth would he do that when the Climategate releases have been so helpful to skeptics? It appears to be out of some misguided sense of honour but I suspect that the real motive is that he is tired of being reviled by the climate establishment and is hungry for some praise from them:
- Deeply regrettable on many levels.
- abetting criminals in their crime.

I agree. As to Jones telling Watts that other people had already told him about security problems so it's not such a big deal anyhow: I've read a great deal of Jones and he is a compulsive liar, says anything that comes to his mind. Why all of a sudden would I believe a thing the guy says? And it was the kind of dismissive thing 'easy liars' (people whose first impulse is to lie about things even if they don't need to) say to get out of a situation. Jones nails Watts in his extremely vain act by saying oh, I already knew. Hey, loser, you thought you were going counsel me and I took the wind out of your sails. Next, Watts posts Jones' statement on his blog as if he accepts it as fact! He accepts as gospel the word of a known compulsive liar, broadcasts this fact to the world leaving himself open for even more ridicule. This doesn't even get into the rest of what Watts did which is well described by the blogger linked above and is horrendous. ed.
