"Blowing snow caused all kinds of travel problems in the mountains late Tuesday afternoon. U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass was closed because of poor weather conditions. Westbound I-70 at Vail Pass was closed for the same reason.

Traffic was moving slowly throughout the I-70 corridor in the high country. The storm is good news for Loveland Ski Area, which opens Thursday morning.

A cold front spread across the region Tuesday afternoon, bringing spotty rain showers to metro Denver and widespread snow in the mountains.

"Snow showers will continue in the mountains before ending later tonight," Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser said. "Skies will turn clear overnight leading to temperatures near freezing. So, there is a FROST ADVISORY in place for the entire Front Range and northeastern plains. You should protect sensitive plants by covering them or bringing them in for the night if possible."
