Al Qaeda 'forest jihad' starting forest fires across Europe, not global warming, part of low cost strategy to 'bleed' the West to death by 'a thousand cuts,' Al Qaeda also recommends starting US fires but US media protects them by blaming fires on global warming

10/3/12, "Al-Qaeda blamed for Europe-wide forest fires," UK Telegraph

"Al-Qaeda has been blamed for a recent series of forest fires across Europe, as the head of Russia's Federal Security Service claimed they were set by arsonists as part of the group's low-cost attack strategy."

"One should note that setting fires to forests in the countries of the European Union is a new tendency in al-Qaeda's strategy of a 'thousand cuts',"
Alexander Bortnikov said, according to state news agency RIA Novosti, at a meeting of heads of security agencies.

"This method allows (al-Qaeda) to inflict significant economic and moral damage without serious preliminary preparations, technical equipment or significant expenses."

In linking al-Qaeda to the deadly wildfires, Mr Bortnikov pointed to calls to launch a "forest jihad" by various extremist websites which he said also publish detailed instructions about how and where to best carry out arson.

He said it was very difficult for special services to find and prosecute such arsonists.

Deadly fires have swept through forest land in EU countries such as Portugal and Spain over the past few months, killing scores of people and forcing thousands to evacuate.

In its continuing campaign against the West, al-Qaeda has vowed to "bleed the enemy to death" by resorting to inexpensive, low-scale attacks it refers to as a "strategy of a thousand cuts".

Al Qaeda also recommends starting US fires but media ignores this and joins with all powerful government and Al Qaeda against the people. Media says "global warming" starts the fires which keeps the spotlight off terrorists so they can continue killing the US "by a thousand cuts:"

""Inspire" magazine...continues to promote jihadi attacks on Western targets, offering detailed advice on how to start huge forest fires in America with timed explosives."...

July/August 2011, "Terrorists in the Woods," Wildfire Magazine, Dick Mangan

"Ever since Sept. 11, 2001
, much of the world's focus has been on the issue of terrorism. The tragic deaths of thousands of Americans in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., coupled with hundreds of deaths in Spain and Bali at the hands of terrorists, has led to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the expenditure of billions of dollars (that's billions with a capital “B”) to improve security and reduce the risks from terrorists and their weapons of mass destruction.

The massive increases in the federal budget for protection from terrorism mostly have been sent to police and structural fire departments. But what about the threat of terrorist-caused wildland fires in our forests, community watersheds and wildland-urban interface? Who's worried about that threat, what are they doing about it, and how much is being spent to fund the efforts to prevent it?

The history of fire as a tool of warfare is well-documented: Native Americans used fire against their enemies, both other tribes and the expanding Europeans; the Aboriginal people of Australia used fire to discourage the incursion of the British settlers onto their island. In World War II, the Japanese launched “fire balloons” against the western United States. While largely unsuccessful, they started a few fires and killed six people in surely at risk under the wrong combination of weather conditions and a committed terrorist with fire on the brain."...

US mortgage foreclosures 2007-2012, interactive map shows devastation continues to spread across US, foreclosures have doubled in San Joachin, Ca. under Obama

10/2/12, "How foreclosures ate America: Incredible interactive map shows wave of property repossession over the past five years," UK Daily Mail

"A new map that illustrates foreclosure rates across the country from January 2007 to July 2012 makes uncomfortable reading for President Obama and his team who insist that Americans are better off than they were four years ago."...

Antarctic contains 90% of earth's ice and is expanding, while the Arctic only contains 1-2% of earth's ice

Why didn’t they mention the good news about Antarctic ice on PBS?

9/28/12, "Sounding the ice cap alarm while ignoring the elephant,
" Steve Goreham, phillyburbs.com

"PBS and Dr. Meier have ignored the elephant in the room. The elephant is the Antarctic Icecap. While satellite data shows that Arctic ice has been declining for the last 30 years, the same satellite data shows that Antarctic ice has been expanding for 30 years.

It’s interesting that climate scientists are so alarmed by declining Arctic ice. The Arctic Icecap is only 1 to 2 percent of Earth’s ice, while the elephant, the Antarctic Icecap, contains about 90 percent of Earth’s ice. The climate models underestimated the decline in Arctic ice, but they are confounded by the growth in Antarctic ice. Data from Dr. Meier’s own National Snow and Ice Center shows that the extent of Antarctic sea ice for 2012 is greater than the 1979-2000 average.

I wonder why he didn’t mention the good news about Antarctic ice on the PBS segment.

The Amundsen-Scott station is the current American scientific research station at the South Pole. For more than 50 years, the United States has maintained a continuous presence at the South Pole. The Amundsen-Scott station is the third U.S. station. The first two stations were buried by accumulating snow. Every year, the South Pole receives a net snow accumulation of about eight inches. The current station is modular and supported on stilts. It can be jacked up every year above the accumulating snow to prolong its life. Contrary to the fears of Climatism, 90 percent of Earth’s icecaps are expanding!" via Climate Depot

Obama Freedom of Information record worse than Bush's-Poynter

9/28/12, "Obama administration’s FOIA record worse than Bush’s,
" Poynter.org, J. Moos

Bloomberg | The New York Times

"Bloomberg News found that 19 of 20 federal agencies did not comply within 20 days to a request for travel expenses made under the Freedom of Information Act. Jim Snyder and Danielle Ivory report:
“When it comes to implementation of Obama’s wonderful transparency policy goals, especially FOIA policy in particular, there has been far more ‘talk the talk’ rather than ‘walk the walk,’ ” said Daniel Metcalfe, director of the Department of Justice’s office monitoring the government’s compliance with FOIA requests from 1981 to 2007.
Analysis done by the Scripps Howard Foundation reveals that President Obama’s administration granted a smaller percentage of open records requests in its first two years in office than George W. Bush’s administration granted in its final three years.

White House spokesperson Eric Schultz defended the administration’s transparency efforts, telling Bloomberg, “Over the past four years, federal agencies have gone to great efforts to make government more transparent and more accessible than ever, to provide people with information that they can use in their daily lives.” Schultz “noted that Obama received an award for his commitment to open government,” Snyder and Ivory write. “The March 2011 presentation of that award was closed to the press.”

Pamela Engel, an Ohio University student intern for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire in 2011, compiled data from 15 cabinet-level federal departments (Justice Department, Homeland Security, State Department, etc.). By email, she said she found these overall rates for the resolution of FOIA requests:
  • 2010 – 62.3% granted, 37.7% denied
  • 2009 – 61.7% granted, 38.4% denied
  • 2008 – 59.5% granted, 40.6% denied
  • 2007 – 76% granted, 24% denied (excluding Veterans Affairs, which had a spike in requests that raised the granted rate up to 91%)
  • 2006 – 76.5% granted, 23.5% denied (excluding Veterans Affairs, which which had a spike in requests that raised the granted rate up to 91.5%)
Figures released by the Justice Department show that in 2011, 64.7 percent of FOIA requests were granted in full or in part.

A breakdown by department showed the Agriculture Department granted the highest percentage of requests (87 percent in 2010), while the Treasury Department granted the lowest (51 percent). The Department of Homeland Security was in the middle, with 69 percent of FOIA requests granted in 2010.

Some others:
  • Department of Defense
    2010 – 61% granted, 39% denied
    2009 – 62.5% granted, 37.5% denied
  • Department of Justice
    2010 – 55.3% granted, 44.7% denied
    2009 – 48.4% granted, 51.6% denied
  • Department of State
    2010- 54.8% granted, 45.2% denied
    2009 – 19.9% granted, 80% denied
Many State Department denials were based on legal exemptions, Engel said, as classified information would be.

“I was surprised at how often federal departments denied requests for a reason other than a legal exemption,” said Engel, now a reporting fellow at The Columbus Dispatch. She and Scripps granted Poynter permission to post a spreadsheet with the results of her research.

Bloomberg reports that the overall number of FOIA requests increased to about 631,000 in 2011, compared with about 601,000 in 2010. But there were also more people processing those requests:
  •  The Justice Department reported in 2008 that there were 3,691 full-time FOIA personnel across all departments and agencies. In 2011, the figure increased by 19 percent to 4,400, according to the department. Some agencies outsource FOIA-related tasks, including the redaction process. The government has spent at least $86.2 million on contracts described as pertaining to FOIA since 2009, according to federal procurement data compiled by Bloomberg.
New York Times Public Editor Margaret Sullivan noted the discrepancy between President Obama’s UN speech Tuesday praising the First Amendment and his administration’s crackdown on whistle-blowers.

“There has been some improvement during the past three years,” Engel says, “but the sunshine law experts I spoke to said it hasn’t been enough, and there is still much work that needs to be done to get to the root of the problem, which they say is the culture of secrecy in Washington.”"
